Frequently asked questions

Getting started
What are managed IT services?
Managed IT services means handing the day-to-day care of your technology to a provider for a predictable monthly fee. We monitor and maintain your systems, keep them secure and updated, support your staff and plan for the future, so you get a complete IT department without hiring one.
What does the free IT assessment include?
We review your devices, network, security, backups, cloud services and licences. Then we explain what we found in plain language and recommend practical next steps, with no obligation.
How long does onboarding take?
It depends on the size and complexity of your environment. We’ll give you a clear timeline in your proposal. Urgent security and backup gaps are always fixed first.
How do we switch from our current provider?
We take care of the handover, including documentation, credentials and coordinating with your current provider, so you stay covered throughout the transition. See switching IT providers for the full process.
Pricing & agreements
How much do your services cost?
Pricing depends on the number of users and devices, the services you choose and any compliance needs. After your free assessment, you’ll get a fixed monthly quote that lists exactly what’s included.
Are there extra charges I should expect?
Your proposal spells out what’s covered by your monthly fee and what would be billed separately, such as new hardware or larger projects. We always get your approval before doing billable work.
Do you require a long-term contract?
Agreement terms are explained clearly in your proposal before you commit. We aim to earn your business every month through reliable service.
Support & security
Is your helpdesk really available 24/7?
Yes. Our regular business hours are Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm, and our helpdesk is available around the clock for clients, because problems rarely happen at convenient times.
Do you come on-site?
Yes. Most issues are solved remotely, and our GTA-based technicians visit your office whenever hands-on work is needed.
Can you help us meet privacy or compliance requirements?
We design security, access control, backup and documentation with obligations such as PIPEDA and PHIPA in mind, and we can help you answer cyber insurance questionnaires. We work alongside your legal and compliance advisors rather than replacing them.
What happens if we get hit by ransomware?
Our layered security is designed to stop attacks early. If an incident does happen, we contain it, restore from clean backups and help you through next steps. Read our ransomware protection checklist to see how prepared you are.
Phones, internet & web
Do you provide business phone systems and internet?
Yes. Through our partner VoiSwitch we offer cloud phone systems, SIP trunks, call centre solutions and dedicated business fibre. See phones, internet & web.
Can you host our website and email?
Yes. Through our partner VoiHost we provide web hosting, websites, domains and Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace licences, and we manage Microsoft 365 for you day to day.
Who do I call if something goes wrong with my phones or website?
Us. Data Trust Co remains your single point of contact and coordinates directly with our partners.
